Young people aged 16-17 will soon be able to vote!
The UK government has recently announced that 16 year-olds will be given the vote! And while it’s not in place just yet, it should be ready for the next general election in 2029.
Along with the voting age lowering, there are also plans to make the voting process a bit easier and more accessible, like accepting more types of identification to help 16-17 year-olds get a fair opportunity to vote on what matters to them!
This is great news, and hopefully it will help young people to feel a bit more confident in democracy, and perhaps be more interested in the politics that effect their lives.
