Teddi and Ellie have done so much great work around housing support!

20 May 2025

Teddi and Ellie have been hard at work recently talking about housing support for care experienced young people!

Yesterday, Teddi and Ellie met with commissioner, Claire Brooking, to continue working on our co-production project discussion on 16+ housing and home. We met with Claire a few months ago, and she has now created a needs analysis based on that discussion. We had a look at the recommendations and started exploring next steps.

Teddi and Ellie also kicked off the new Growing Futures project, which is looking at revamping the whole system of homes for children – from the moment they come into care to the day they leave. They delivered an activity from Total Respect training and share their lived experience, which set the tone for the rest of the meeting, keeping children and young people at the centre of the conversation. Devon’s key leaders were in the room and will be pulling together a time-bound action plan so that we see genuine lasting change. This is a long term project that young people will be involved in right the way through.

Across both days Teddi and Ellie were able to represent the views and experiences of care leavers and support the attendees to understand the housing challenges and opportunities from a young person’s perspective.

You were both so articulate, confident and wise and really did SUSU proud!
