Takeover Day 2023

What a day we at Takeover Day! We got to speak directly to Children’s Services managers and staff, and we put forward our ideas of where we think the care system could be improved!
We started off with little ice breaker where we all stood in one line and then either took moved forward or backwards depending on whether we’d had certain opportunities or experience different kinds of stigma. By the end it there was a big divide between the care-experienced people in the room and most of the politicians and managers. Some of the politicians even said it was very powerful thing to see.
After that, we presented our ideas to managers and politicians, before going on to discuss some of the specific problems that we’d experienced during our time in care or as care leavers, and suggested how these might be improved in future.
