Stand Up Speak Up Council key details for January 2026!

We had a great first Stand Up Speak Up Council session of 2026 online last week! Here are the key details
We had five young people attend and two guest speakers, Claire Lynds and Simon Kitchen.
Claire showed the council the new Post 16 Housing model and asked for feedback on it which was generally positive with young people asking for a bigger focus on preparation for housing and being informed on the choices they have.
The Youth Council also said it might be worth showing that if you are housed through adult social care the model doesn’t really apply to you.
Simon then updated us on the conversations that the Welcome & Support me board are having, particularly around the belongings projects and care experienced young people going through the criminal justice system.
Young people felt positive that their belongings were started to be respected and that senior management were focused on the subject.
⚖️ Simon then asked for the young people’s opinions on the criminal justice subject which the young people focused on early support and intervention and having more compassion for young people.
