Our recent Stand Up Speak Up Council update for April 2026

Great time at today’s SUSU Council Meeting
We kicked off with a fun game of ⬅️Left, ➡️Right, ⬇️Centre before getting stuck into our 2026 priorities.
We then started work on the topics of Accessing records and the Recruitment and retention of workers.
This was followed closely by work on recognising care experienced young people as a protected characteristic in schools
We talked about why these issues matter to us and what we want to change! Now it’s over to the team to shape the details and next steps
We also explored the My Life, My Future document, created to support care‑experienced young people to be healthy, resilient, and prepared for life beyond care. We shared our views on it and what we agreed with.
We finished the session with a challenge to fill a cup of water until it overflowed… unfortunately Joel took the loss
