Care leavers and council tax exemption – an update!

We are delighted to announce that all District Councils in Devon have agreed, in principle, to make care experienced young people exempt from paying council tax!
The scheme is for all Devon care leavers aged up to 25, whether you live in or outside of Devon. But please be aware that there are different start dates for the scheme across each of the District Councils – all councils should have the scheme up and running by the end of April 2024.

We’d also like to say a big well done and thank you to everyone who has been involved in pushing for this change. We’ve been campaigning for this since March 2022, so it’s good to see it finally happen!
