Celebration of Achievement Awards 2026!
8 July 2026
Hundreds of care experienced young people have been recognised for their achievements at our annual Celebration of Achievement awards! 🥳🥳
Over the last year, people both in care and leaving care have done remarkable things! From learning new skills, reaching new milestones, or simply keeping a smile on their faces, these awards are our way to give recognition to their hard work! 💪👏
On Friday 3 July, and organised by our Virtual School, we gathered at Exeter Racecourse to hand out awards and gift vouchers, and celebrated the progress, resilience, and successes of our young people over the past 12 months.
The awards were hosted by Julian Watkins, Assistant Director and Lead for Corporate Parenting, with Councillor Richard Jefferies presenting certificates and gift vouchers. Councillor Denise Bickley and Councillor Julian Brazil introduced the younger and older age group award presentations. 🏆
Throughout the evening, guests could also enjoy a range of fun activities including inflatables, face painting, DJ workshops on the BoomBus from Sound Communities, and live music from Devon Battle of the Bands finalists Burnt Daylight, who have been supported by Devon music hub. Guests also enjoyed a buffet and chocolate fountain, as well as free ice cream kindly donated by Darts farm! 😋🍦
About 200 young people joined us to receive their awards alongside 260 family members, carers and supporters. A total of 551 people were nominated for recognition, with those unable to attend receiving their awards by post.
The evening was a great success and rounded off Love Our Children Week 2026, our week-long celebration of our children in care and care leavers across Devon! ⭐❤️
