Our 2024 campaign roundup of Mental Health in Schools and Colleges!
Mental Health Support in Schools and Colleges was the Devon Youth Council campaign for last year, as voted for in the 2024 Make your Mark survey.
We know this is still important to you, and we know that the journey for schools and colleges being better places for everyone will take many years, and we will continue to work on it. However, as we move on to our 2025 campaign, we wanted to summarise everything you have achieved!
You created a survey with over 2000 responses and did some focus groups to understand the issue better
You created and presented a report on what would make schools and colleges more supportive of mental health and wellbeing.
We all shared the report in lots of places and with lots of teams, including:
NHS Devon, the Integrated Care Board, Children and Family Health Devon, the Corporate Parenting Board, the Health and Wellbeing Board, the Headteachers conference, the University, and more…
✅ Your research has influenced two major decisions:
Mental Health in Schools Teams will be in all schools by the end of 2029.
And the new Education Strategy for Devon Schools has inclusion and wellbeing at its heart.
This Saturday we will be meeting to discuss the next steps in our campaign around this year’s topic ‘Place to go, things to do’.
Your message has been heard, Devon County Council is taking young people’s views seriously. So do keep going with your amazing work!!
