This November the Children’s Commissioner’s Office are dedicating the whole month to talking about the care system for children and how it can better help young people reach their goals and achieve their potential.

Keep an eye on the IMO website and social media channels to hear more and get involved.

Virtual event

As part of Care Month, the Children’s Commissioner will be holding a live virtual event on Tuesday, 24 November. The Commissioner will be presenting her vision for a better care system for children, and she’ll reflect on what she has learnt from children and young people during her time in the role. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate your achievements and successes, and we’d love you to come along if you can – either to listen in or to take part.

Ways to get involved

  • Submitting a question: You can submit your questions about the care system to the Commissioner. Some of these questions will be selected and if your question is chosen, you will be invited to ask it at the event – if you’d like to! Questions need to be submitted by Thursday, 12 November.
  • Joining the panel: You can also put yourself forward to join the children’s panel at the event. The panel will consist of between three and five young people, and you’ll be asked to answer questions from the audience about what it’s really like to be in care. And don’t worry! The questions will be shared with you in advance so that you can think about them beforehand. You’ll need to register for the panel by Thursday, 12 November.
  • Listen in: There’s also the option of joining the event and listening in.

If you want to get involved in any of the above, please sign up for the event here.
